Welcome to Jemstone Chihuahuas!
My family has been breeding/showing dogs for over 60 years, most recently Bulldogs and Boston Terriers. In 2001, after the death of my stepfather, my mother and I moved to beautiful northwestern Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, when he passed away, our passion for showing these breeds did also. This is when "Xena", my very first Chihuahua, came into my life as a pet. Xena may not be the prettiest, but she is what made me fall in love with the breed, and she will be by my best buddy forever!
I am a small hobby breeder, and am now showing my own "bred by" Chi's. My breeding program focuses strongly on health and temperament, adhering to the AKC standard as close as possible. My chihuahuas come from strong champion pedigrees, and I strive to produce many more! I breed in hopes of producing that next champion. While occassionally some of my "little gems" may be very tiny, I will never refer to them as "teacups" or any other similar term. A Chihuahua is a small breed dog, ranging from 2 - 6 lbs, and is categorized only by gender and coat type, either long or smooth coat. Any other term used to describe a Chihuahua is misleading, as there is no such thing as a "teacup". Please refer to the Chihuahua Club of America's website, and their article on "The Teacup Myth".
My Chihuahuas are raised in my home as a part of the family, they even share my bed at night! I am very involved with raising these sweet little babies from the very beginning, by selectively breeding, and assisting in the whelping and rearing process. They are raised alongside the rest of their Chihuahua and non-Chihuahua family, which includes a few kitties, a Lab and a Mini Dachshund. As a result of the endless supply of love they receive from day one, my Chi babies will come to you as a happy, healthy, well socialized puppy!
